To be fair, it’s incredibly rare that Trump demonstrates an understanding of anything besides grifting, but his use of the vaguest of language and talk about how complicated it was, and his intimations that only smart people like him understand it, suggests he’s especially clueless about crypto. On the other hand, he used to call it a “scam” “based on thin air,” which indicates at least the understanding that it was a con - and his realization that he didn’t want to miss out on it.

Then again, roughly half the US electorate doesn’t seem to understand how the presidency, or the rest of US govt, works either.
