If only this was just the first step in the right direction.
Maybe don’t use it at all?
I suppose that as long as Musk is making his minimum payments, Prince Bonesaw and the other funders are happy to leave the rotting hulk in place as a haven for fascists, racists, and disinfo tr0lls.
Heinlein’s Lazarus Long said “Never try to out-stubborn a cat.” Some of us are cats. I was on Twitter before Elmo, and I’m not going anywhere. I’m elsewhere, too, but I will also be on Twitter, muting and blocking every single ad, to snark him as the raging Boer is dragged out of the building by his feet.
Bug or feature?
I use Twitter to check a few accounts, NYT Pitchbot, mostly. I don’t use the app, just go to the website and go from there. This affects me not at all.
That seems like a lot of work for little gain.
It turns out it wasn’t removed, they put the link in the top corner, but for some reason every time you click on the ‘X’ the window just closes.
How on earth are they still getting $2.5 BILLION in ad revenue? Do incels and alt-right weirdos really have that much money?
I never have, nor Facebook / Meta.
I’ve got my RSS Feed Reader and a bunch of forums / comments sections I partake in, and that’s all I need.
Fuck Social Media.
Well, counterintuitively, it’s actually also the laziest thing I can do.
PSA: Do not install X (Twitter) iOS version on your Mac. You will get suspended!
Elon Musk must really hate the macintosh.
It’s satisfying in a way, like when downvoting & reporting tons of spamming scammers on yt vids…unless yt reinstates them, which is beyond infuriating.
You think they give a shit about your opinion?
And just what is Boing Boing, chopped liver?
Sorry. Dunno what I was thinking, typing that.
It is difficult to overstate the levels of laziness and inertia inherent in big-brand marketing departments. Yaccarino’s core competency is recognising and exploiting this fact.
Loyalty is for family, friends, and causes worth believing in.
Twitter is a glue trap. It’s a Nazi bar. It’s a killzone for trollies, a valley that’s only exposing you to enfillade fire.
