Two rampage killer attacks today in California. Great job, America

As far as I’m concerned, mandatory licensing and registration. Failure to do so will result in a felony conviction and confiscation. Requirements to be defined federally.

Every time we have a mass shooting, we get that much closer to mandated gun control. You’d think pro-gun people would want to get in front of that and head things off before anti-gun people make the decision for them. Police yourself or we’ll do it for you, in other words.

Dead children on television is eroding popular support for guns, at least in the dominant urban parts of the country.

We lived under the flight path in South Park when we first moved here, then once we got settled and looked around I was sorely disappointed that there was no discount for not being able to watch a movie without the dialog being obliterated every 5 minutes, or listen to soft music without headphones. Really, the shit people here not only put up with but pay 700k for…

Enjoying the back and forth? Me too!

Hey, it’s a rampage violence incident in America, but with a twist - two in one day, and one used a knife! I wonder what people are talking about?

Stop giving them so much media coverage! Why do you think we have so many right now? Guns aren’t much more common than 20 years ago, access to mental health care hasn’t gotten much worse and the overall murder rate is a lot lower. We have just reached a critical mass of media coverage where each copycat inspires more copycats etc. If they were treated as local crime news instead of national news there would be fewer.

Have you been to Europe?

It’s hard for me to agree with @Mister44* but this is by far not the whole picture or only right-wing attack related to the refugee influx.

A good measurment for right-wing crimes in Germany are burning accommodations for refugess and asylum seekers, a form of protest we as society perfected in the 1990s (c.f. Rostock riots).

In 2014 BKA and BfV listed 200 attacked accommodations, for 2015 until mid-October the count is already 580.

I love how completely you two are missing the point. The madman with the knife completely failed to kill anyone. He got point-blank range with at least 5 victims and they’re all still breathing. I’m so thankful he had a knife and not a gun.

I’m friends on facebook with a German cop and some of the articles he shares are… worrying. He seems to think this influx of immigrants spells some sort of inarticulable doom for Germany.

All I’d say is that more so than any other country I’ve seen Germany has a large and active counter-movement against this sort of nationalist sentiment. I think it will work out ok.

Are they making a delivery there?

The funny thing is that if you’re going to take up arms, insurrection-style, against the US government, those pea-shooters are going to be weapons of last resort. Unless you’re at the stage where you’re doing like the IRA and engaging in assassinations of collaborators, which means we’d pretty much be in a full-on civil war and the military would have fractured somewhat, releasing professional soldiers and hardware to both sides. I mean, that’s why people are desperate to keep guns at their current level of legality, right? But you know, if you take away someone’s derringer, you’ve destroyed their every chance to preserve liberty. (Although depending on how shoddily it was made, I might prefer to face someone with a derringer over someone with a knife.)

I own pistols and rifles and apparently surprisingly to most non-Americans, I have never shot anybody with them. I enjoy shooting a great deal and as a California resident I have to go through an amazing amount of bureaucracy and limitations on what I can own and how I can purchase it.

About a month ago four high school students were arrested in Tuolumne California for plotting a shooting spree. It didn’t happen because they could not get their hands on the weapons they needed. It didn’t get a huge amount of press because nobody died, but the firearm access laws did their job like they were supposed to. This doesn’t work all the time though.

In some ways it’s the same (without the potential death of course and it would be foolish of me to discount that) as software piracy, drugs, or pornography. No matter the laws forbidding something, somebody will always do an end around. The people that follow the law will be limited while those who flout it have full access.

I’m white, male, in my 50s, ex-military,and obey the law and I’m still far more concerned I’m going to be shot by law enforcement than another civilian.

Well, I always try to get my window open so I can make a delivery of sorts…but the flight attendants don’t seem to appreciate my actions…
