U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss resigns

Has anyone tried unplugging the UK, and plugging it back in again?

Alternately, unplugging the Conservative Party.

I tried the first part, but I was outvoted.

Whoah.

What does the first guy even mean by “he took us out of brexit”?

Fixed, you’re welcome. :slightly_smiling_face:

Shouldn’t expect any better from the constituency that put the late unlamented BoJo in his seat in the first place, honestly.

Someone needs to tell the Conservative voters that it’s time to let them go, and that it’s undignified to try keeping them alive.

Failing that, do Dignitas have bulk rates for assisted career suicide?

Can Truss resign from her resignation?

FIFTH Quatermass serial. Granted, there was a bit of a gap between the first three and the last one, but John Mills played Quatermass in a four-part TV series for Thames Television in 1979.

Plot spoiler:

Which made a fifth story problematic given that it ends with Quatermass sacrificing himself in a manually-triggered nuclear explosion.

Well found- that’s a really good take, that expands on the factions at work, and the wider impact of this mess

Fallout 3 solved that one.

On second thoughts, Quatermass is dead and never coming back. He will be missed.

They’re not wrong: they are in the wrong group if you are concerned about sexual assault and harassment. Getting away with crime is the Tory MO.

Even so, Tory victims of bullying, violence and sexual assault deserve justice.

Someone should explain this to the Tory whips.

So if Jonhson gets back in does he have any chance of lasting as long as Truss did?

I was pretty steamed when the media pretended the last Top Shithead competition was a real election, so you can guess my thoughts on the current panto.

Tory MPs can legally hold out for another 18 months or whatever, and none of us controls that. But the press gets to decide what’s politically viable. If every headline for the next two years was “Call An Election Now”, Tory members wouldn’t dream that they could turn things around by waiting. Instead, the media are effectively saying – choosing to say – that this is great entertainment and they’ll support it to the end. They’re not trying to metabolize voters’ current anger into their narrative.

So yeah, when the news tries to make you interested in this contest, you should interpret that as a deliberate personal attack, and make of it what you will.

That was an excellent read, thank you.

Is the Truss the new, Brexit approved, replacement for the old SI Clough?

Clough was too successful in Europe to be kept around.
