I note that the papers are already discussing (i.e. promoting) the prospect of Johnson returning. Some may frame it as “wouldn’t that be awful”, but they know god damn well that them talking about it is the one way it can happen, and they’re clearly waving goodbye to continence over that thought.

While I’m no Liz Truss supporter, and never would be, I cannot help but feel she was sabotaged by the old white guys in her party who fully set her up at multiple opportunities. Boris even seriously being discussed as an option is just living proof that if you’re a white male you can fuck up any number of times, but if you’re a woman or an otherwise politically marginalized person, you’ve got to be 100% perfect or that’s evidence that your class just can’t hack it.
And lest you think it’s just a game the people on the right play, Hillary went through that on the campaign trail at every point from attackers on the left.
Liz Truss was never going to be successful. Her job was to either succeed in getting that rich tax cut or fail and let Bojo and friends back in.
