U.S. drops 'mother of all bombs' on Afghanistan, largest non-nuclear bomb in arsenal

Now, now. “Terrorists” are brown people, usually Islamic. It’s not terrorism if a white Christian does it.

Straight out of North Korea’s playbook: Appear to be militarily strong (however insanely) in order to distract and hypnotize the masses.

So, roughly 9.5 kilotons. Does anyone know what kind of explosives are used?

This would be a completely different, nice and friendly munition as compared with barrel bombs? Just like a thermobaric bomb is in no way to be compared to a Sarin attack even though it leaves people just as unpleasantly dead? Cluster munitions good, anti-personnel mines bad? Our nuclear stockpile good, any other nuclear stockpile bad?

Establishing the graduations of the immoral can be a little difficult, and help is needed.

It’s actually made by the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, so no companies involved. Socialism, you know. But the military is the part of the Federal Government that Trump likes.

He won’t like them when someone points out the cost of their pensions and ongoing medical care.

Trump’s… hands, shall we say, felt bigger after he ordered the bombing of Syria. So he figured using a bigger bomb would help make them feel even larger.

Be very glad that someone explained to him that nuclear bombs are actually quite small, physically speaking.

Well, he is living in the head of the body politic, and for that we’re actually paying him

Something that has a blast radius of up to one mile and an engineer is worried about the thin skin of the missile? WTF?

What really bothers me here is that now that Trump has actually killed people and now has blood on HIS hands, Is that he seems to like it.

Is there any information out there on why Obama choose not to use the weapon?

I never understood what the fuss about “barrel bombs” was. Last I checked, most bombs are cylindrical metal enclosures filled with explosives, unless something more exotic is required. Yes, just shoving whatever into spare oil drums isn’t terribly elegant craftsmanship; but it differs only in budget from a nice, respectable, JDAM.

Criticise the choice of what you drop them on, sure; but the amount of attention paid to the fact that some hardware was improvised, rather than professionally produced? Why?

This may have been the most predicable action he could have made.

“What’s the biggest, best bomb we have?”

“Conventional or Nuclear, sir?”

“I don’t care, the biggest. The best. What’s the most expensive?”

“Well, the largest conventional bomb we have is the MOAB. I’d have to check to see what the officially largest nuclear device we have is.”

“Drop the biggest on ISIS. I want the world to see a huge explosion!”

“Sir, the largest…oh, ok. You know the MOAB is the biggest bomb, because it’s name is…the Mother of All Bombs.”

“Tremendous! Do it!”

“Yes sir!” whew
