I know that Pie Shop!
Balls about to go?
Waiting for that and Lucas and then bed.
Balls asks for recount, 300 behind?
I think I’ll just assume he lost.
Hoping Lucas won in Brighton, there has to be one more bright spot, mustn’t there?
Well, I gave the politicians a chance, but I think I need to cut out the middle man and focus on direct action. It will be a long, hard fight and its one I can’t afford to lose, but I have been forced into it. The only other choice I have is to do nothing until I die.
Caroline Lucas has won with a majority of nearly 8000
Ed Balls loses.
Goodnight Vienna. At least when I wake up farage will have lost too.
Balls Fallen.
Confirm, Balls Dropped.
Money on The Sun or somewhere actually running that headline? Yours not mine, can’t believe I thought that didn’t work. D’oh!
Farage has lost. I feel so dirty for being pleased at a Tory win.
Delighted to see Labour so thoroughly thrashed, congrats to the SNP, feel bad for the Lib Dems (who I would have voted for if they had a chance in my constituency, they came 5th!). Delighted that Labour not in power, but also somewhat horrified that the Conservatives are in such a strong position (and to make matters worse, they may need a pact with the DUP to form a completely stable govt).
Delighted that Labour aren’t in power, but horrified that the Tories are?
What else did you expect?
As someone who generally leans LD because both the Tories and Labour are authoritarian disasters (although I tried to vote Green this time), I think this is a horrible result. Labour is going to swing back towards that bullshit Blairite position under Umanna or someone like him as a reaction.
The only saving grace I can imagine is that the bastards on the Tory backbenches are going to struggle to get the worst of their policies through. I see a lot of rebellions coming in the next parliament. Oh, and Boris Johnson will never be PM. So there’s that.
Maybe this time we can have electoral reform like we desperately need. An absolute majority on a 37% share of a 66% turnout?
Sadly, there’s no coalition to push for it, and Labour won’t give a shit since their results broadly match the popular vote.
I’d actually take UKIP MPs if it meant that the LDs and Greens got fair representation. I understand why Clegg got a kicking but I don’t really know what people expected of him in 2010? Propping up Gordon Brown as PM? Nobody wanted that.
And if the UK electorate vote to leave the EU in this stupid referendum that’ll now happen, that’s the end of the country, because Scexit will follow Brexit as sure as night follows day.
I hope devomax really does happen. And even though they were rejected before, English regional assemblies.
Delighted that Labour aren’t in power, but horrified that the Tories are?

I expected what the pollsters were saying, which would’ve likely been a much weaker Tory government than last time kept in check by the LDs, or some kind of anti-tory coalition reined in by LDs, it didn’t sound like a very stable proposition either way, but better than what we’ve got now. I really detest Labour though, so even though the current situation isn’t ideal, it’s not the worst case scenario for me.
I hope the devolution offered by Cameron isn’t enough, and the Scots end up with independance back on the agenda for the next Hollyrood elections, and that it passes next time. You’re right that the english voting to leave the EU would likely make that an near certainty, but ideally I’d like to see a newly independent Scotland and South Britain (with regional assemblies and PR) both in the EU, especially to help Ireland and other small liberal nations keep the French and Germans in check. Not sure how likely the regional assemblies and PR would be though, even with the Greens, UKIP, LDs behind reform, and maybe even Labour warming to the idea, it would have to wait until after a new election, and devolution would be a requirement before that.
Oh goody, Theresa May kept her job as Minister of Evil.
Snooper’s charter on its way, then.
I’m working out what the financial implications of the election are for me. I am in real danger of becoming homeless in the next five years, and it will be sooner rather than later if benefit freezes become cuts.
I’m working out my survival options.
And this is what’s shit.
I don’t want to ‘Like’ your post, but I do want to acknowledge it.
It’s very easy for me to look at the results and be disappointed/angry in the way they went, and think they’re wrong - but I live in a different country and won’t have to suffer the consequences.
I fear that people that disliked the coalition are going to have a shock when they discover what the Conservatives will do without LDs holding up legislation.
Genuinely, thinking of you and other vulnerable people who are going to suffer because of this result. Thinking that it will probably get undone in 2020 doesn’t mean a lot right now.
Five years is a long time for the electorate to realize and live with their mistakes.
I’ve got a head start on the “realise” bit. Can I skip some of the “live with”? Please?
There is at least this:
