UK general election discussion thread - Post Mortem

Curiously, the 2% figure is one of those Nato targets, and UKIP isn’t that keen on NATO. Maybe Farange is interested in following the Russian example, of twice that.

I got some stickers in the post today

They came from http://www.markthomasinfo.co.uk/ in case anyone is having problems with unwanted kippers in their neighbourhood.

Labour fail at geography.

But if you don’t get the kipper leaflets, then you’re missing out on so much…

Just saw this, which I thought was interesting.

Not very impressed with Miliband’s bid for Tory Lite votes. Would rather he went left. Honestly don’t give much of a fig about the UK staying together, but while it is, I like the idea of the SNP pulling Labour that way.

When do the postal votes get sent out? Not seen anything here yet, not sure I’ll get one back in time for it to count if it doesn’t show soon.

Tangential:

Enjoying the new series of Veep, but it isn’t a patch on The Thick of It. And if Iannucci is leaving but the series is carrying on, I don’t hold out much hope.

Grant Shapps accused of editing Wikipedia pages of Tory rivals

But maybe it was Michael Green.

What a clot.

And now…

Because the Tory party’s own reserves of crazy are running dry, they’re importing Republicans from the US to help them

Because that’s exactly what dave needs to persuade people he cares about the NHS- active help from the anti-obamacare movement.

Also, doing my research, it seems that the “young” Republicans are an organisation for under-40’s. Thst’s stretcing the definition a bit, wouldn’t you say?

And Norman Tebbit(!) Is telling Scottish Tories to vote Labour!

Arf!

I can’t see that doing anything other than boosting SNP votes.

Not liking the Tory lurch further right to go for UKIP votes. Nor the predictions showing a small majority for Tory + LD + DUP + UKIP.

On the plus side, I don’t think the LDs would think much of that either. But the present guys as a minority govt propped up by those two parties is a horrible possibility.

Any coalition with Ukip is the sort of thing that gives me nightmares. I mean real nightmares with people attacking me and threatening to kill me. It’s not helped by the regular comments by their candidates, the ones that Falange says we shouldn’t pay any attention to.

Not that the DUP look any better

I’m not even going to pretend that I have any belief in Westminster if Falange gets in.

Gentleman who has profitted from poverty and austerity thinks that the Conservatives are right for government.

While Labour wants to remind everyone that they will work with Conservatives too

And Wiliam Hill have been taking bets on Menzies Cambell not keeping his seat.

Did anyone watch Panorama tonight/yesterday? Is it available outside of the UK?

But what if the polls are exactly right? Who’s going to be the next prime minister? Sometimes you can gather all the data you like and the best forecast is ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

Might be a fun one to watch.

I wonder if there’s any chance of the National Health Action Party knocking off Jeremy C…sorry…Hunt.

Hopefully enough LD voters realize they don’t have a candidate.

Arf! Fame at last!

This was a reply sent a few hours after the one he sent saying he was at a pub where the landlord was his UKIP rival…

Fabulous. To get my postal vote back in time will cost $50.

Thanks for the late delivery!

Oh well, it’ll show up late. No biggie.

Ah, good. It’s been a while since a kipper got fired for saying something awful.

I can’t even fucking vote now, because my new job is mired in red tape, and my current job is a hundred miles from my polling station, and I have to do another shift there or starve. Fucksticks. Not that it matters, it’s a safe seat, and the fat, chairwarming Blairite will get in no matter what (at least he’s not a Tory or a Kipper, so I suppose there’s that). Our old MP, Jim Cousins was canny. I miss him.

That is Incredibly annoying. At least you’re in a safe seat, but all the same, it’s just wrong to have your vote taken away at short notice like that.

Perhaps this is an argument for making polling day a national holiday?

And of course, the fact that your vote hardly matters just makes the case for electoral reform even more solid.
