About the only positive thing in there is that she isn’t a covid denier. She wanted a police state to enforce lockdown, but you can’t have everything, or nearly anything at all in this case.

she is campaigning under the ‘Safer With Susan’ banner.

I don’t feel safer with her.

There are three by-elections today.

This candidate is standing in what was Boris’s old seat:

When the snooper’s charter became law i didn’t think it would be enough for them then and so it proved, but this is just the technical capability notice “feature” that was baked into the law from the outset anyway. Looks like this new bullshit is going to pass as well. Home office approved encryption? No Fucking Thank you.

I mean, as manifestos go, it doesn’t immediately make me furious.

It’s also remarkably free of pointless spite directed at minorities as a vague “other”, so it’s ahead of at least one other manifesto

Follow up:

Two massive losses for the Tories, but they narrowly hang on in Boris’s old seat

Tight win tho. A little bit more tactical voting and it could have been three for three. Shame.

This is just down the road from me (so to speak). The thing looks like it’s set to split in half and sink at any moment.

Feels like performative cruelty to me, of a piece with painting over the cheery mural at the centre for handling unaccompanied minors

Wait. Three pounds a week?

I know the cruelty is the point, but how completely petty do you have to be to cut three pounds a week?

I’m crunching the numbers, and assuming there are 100,000 asylum seekers in the UK (near enough) all collecting this benefit (they aren’t), that’s less than 0.002% of the 2021 budget. It’s literally equivalent to an average Brit saving 50p per year.
