Ukraine-born billionaire with biz ties to Russian oligarchs is funding Trump's legal defense via the RNC

educate those around you. have discussions about difficult issues without pissing each other off. in the new vietnam film there are comments about US citizens saying they were very uncomfortable going against common belief. people who work everyday don’t have time to keep up so we have to help them. many affluent assholes have gone to their grave without retribution. keep it going. peace

He does tend to work in Zimbabwe dollars, which are currently about 400 to the US one.

TRUMP DOESN’T DO BUSINESS WITH THE RUSSIANS! He uses a Ukrainian middle man.

It’s complicated, isn’t it?
Is the Trump thing all about Ukrainians who opposed the EU- and NATO-isation of Ukraine and wanted the old Soviet era people to stay? That would explain a number of Trump’s utterances.

Y’know, it seems to me like there’s a difference between a Russian oligarch and a US citizen who was born in… the country Russia just conquered. There’s plenty of real guilt to go around; can we leave the guilt-by-association to guys like Breitbart?

The conquest has little to do with it. Any Ukrainian who is Russian-aligned now was also very likely to be Russian-aligned before the invasion,

That’s true. The headline is still on a par with Barack HUSSEIN Obama linked to Arab figures.

I feel like you didn’t read the summary, much less the linked article.

Furthermore, from this profile:

His parents were academics, and when he was young they moved to Yaroslavl, a mid-sized city three hours from Moscow.

There is a ton more stuff in that profile about he got rich feeding at the trough of Russian privatization, just like all the other russian oligarchs.

The guy is Ukrainian born, but he’s a russian oligarch.

Um…they haven’t. They have annexed Crimea and there is a small scale civil war in Donbass, but AFAIK the same dysfunctional shower is still in charge in Ukraine.

Exactly.

Oh sure, but when I tell the judge I can pay my lawyer fees for my drug arrest if I can just sell some more drugs, he’s all, “No!”.

Very interesting that the Wall Street Journal scooped this. Not that I read that paper much, but I gather they’ve been very pro Trump.

The right has been deliberately hyping the Russia story for a while now (including Russian politicians bragging about installing Trump).

The fascists know that so long as they keep liberals focused on the fantasy of impeachment, they won’t take any effective action to resist.

Fortunately, not everyone is falling for it:

No constitutional convention yet. Unless we get rumblings from the prez himself I put this in the same category as Obama and FEMA camps.

That bit did strike even me as a touch paranoid [1]. He has some points in the rest of it, though.

[1] In part because Trump doesn’t care about the law, and they control the USSC anyway, so the law is whatever they say it is.
