Well, the article says nothing about whether the transmission on that one is automatic or manual. (Some keen eyes might be able to tell which one it is by looking at the underside of the engine bay as the car comes falling down, though.)

And with most modern manuals you don’t need to hit the clutch pedal to put it into neutral either. But whether you need to bump the shifter forwards or backwards, depends on what gear the car is in.

If it is an automatic, (most likely scenario) auto sticks always bump forward, not backwards. Manual is a different story…he should have used the clutch!
