I’m mostly familiar with light houses on the NC coast. While they are not all in remote locations, the Outer Banks isn’t exactly forgiving when something like a category 4+ hurricane is bearing down on you.

They had one near me available a few years ago for $1 dollar. It was lakefront property right near downtown, but the low end estimate for repairs was in the half million range, utilities were a nightmare, and you had to file a repair plan as part of the purchase.
