That is pretty impressive!
My brother built the plastic model for that. Top opened up to see inside and everything. Spent many many hours of childhood playing with that, super cool looks, might have been a flying sub but also made a great looking spacecraft.
Subtext- there’s some tech on this thing that they really don’t want China knowing about.
It’ll buff right out.
So they had at least one twelve-thousand foot cable that can support a stealth jet. (plus the weight of thousands of feet of cable)
I’m sure it’s just one HUGE spool, but that still could be fun to see.

Only an issue if there was air in the inside and water on the outside. Since it sunk, I think we can assume there wasn’t much air in it.

Nah, those little water indicators will have turned red. The insurance companies will just say: you dropped in in the water, no insurance for you.
