The suv drove through a red light in the intersection just before hitting the coffee shop. This happened on Saturday, normally Chartres (the cross street) is a lot busier. Its a miracle no one was seriously hurt even before crashing into the coffee shop.
Also I now know the bollards downtown don’t actually go underground. Should have guessed; Houston does everything it can to make pedestrians less safe
