How will this be different from every other 3D movie?
I can barely wait for Rubiks: The Movie
“Stated Jonathan Glickman, MGM’s motion picture group president: “View-Master was the first device that allowed families all over the world to escape their reality and take them places they never thought they could go.”
Uh… wrong. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/413627547000082303/
Actually, that HR+RC mashup reminds me of this real poster:

Came here to say the same thing.
Given that it’s Mattel, I suppose they could mash it up with other properties they already own. I mean, wouldn’t you go to see View-Masters of the Universe?
Well, okay, I wouldn’t, either.
I imagine it will be about a “magic” View-Master that turns it’s images real, you get sucked into the image like in Jumanji or something like that.
These toy adaptations are always action movies. Maybe they could make it a Rom-Com about a magical Viewmaster that teleports people to wherever the disc shows and leads to wacky hijinks?
I loved my Viewmaster as a kid, but it didn’t have much of a plot.
How can you really “play” with a ViewMaster without a Fire button?
And then it turns out that Will Farrell is the father and then something involving Super Glue.
I distinctly recall reading one YA supernatural thriller involving a haunted stereoscope, though heck if I can recall what it was called. I wouldn’t expect that would be a good marketing angle, but then again:
And not to mention:
Ooh! Ooh! I want a wacky rom-com about two people (but it’ll be a man and a woman, because of course) who are in love but are separated by being in two slightly different frames of the same picture. How will they ever get to be together? Who, oh, who, will be able to magically bring these two images together into one? My guess is it’ll be a kid from a broken home or a magical magician (The View Master™!) or both.
My First thought was this:
Followed by, “Wait… maybe they mean a documentary about the history of the View-Master?”
Then I read the post. Nope. It’s going to be something like this again:
This news comes on the heels of the two companies’ announcement of an American Girl film based on the insanely popular doll brand.
besides the point, but there have already been multiple movies based on the popular American Girl brand.
“I am the View-Master. Are you the vista-keeper?”
The difference will be, there isn’t a 2D version available. Its the glasses or nothing.
