Found this on my way to other research. Believe it came from a Hearst Sunday insert in the mid-1930s… I especially like the exultant robot standing in the rain atop the pile of his fallen kin. The caption reads: “A French Artist’s Imaginative Picture of the Last Robot - Out of Control of Their Masters and Having Crippled Humanity They Battle Among Themselves Until the Surface of the World Is Covered by Their Wreckage and the Last Automaton Survivor Crowns the Heap.”

Oh. It’s been so long it took me a minute to recall the context of Moshi Moshi in the movie. They say it so often that I’m surprised I forgot.
Fun fact: Seattle’s neighborhood Ballard has a delightful sushi restaurant with genuinely good cocktails. And the best rainbow warrior tree in the middle of the restaurant.
