Viral Chinese video: "Who cares?"

Is it more than the hamsters got for the Hamster Dance? That’s not fair!

The hamsters got the good end of that bargain. They don’t accept credit, so they got straight sesame seeds.

Ah but who watches the… no, wait… Who cares-not for the care-free?

Doesn’t he?

Dang it, beat me to it!

Well, I can still post the earlier version I always preferred (possibly just because it’s the one I heard first):

China had already announced well in advance that they intended to ignore any ruling which went against them. Par for the course since the entire political identity of the country is based on ideology rather than reality. Anything contrary to the party line must be lies. No two ways about it.

So now the PRC will try to flex its muscles and pitch a few tantrums in the area. And of course the US, Japan, Philippines, etc now have international legal backing with which to force them back into their crib. Just hoping they don’t decide to lash out at us in Taiwan in the meantime. Our new President (Hey China, we have elections! Ner-ner-ner!) already scares the crap out of them to the point of cutting off official relations. Will be fun to see what they do next.

The use of English does not necessarily indicate that it is for a foreign audience English and Mandarin are universally required in Chinese schools, so there are quite a few memes and ads that use this technique. It might be used to cause a perception that it was not created by the government instead. In this case I think it is both but that target audience is most likely Japanese, Koreans and Phillipinos rather than Westerners.

China is now so far beyond being the “sick man” of Asia that they’re ready to deride and mock on the world stage, and to disparage rulings of international courts.

Not all Chinese will want this, but I rather suspect they’re going to get it.

China’s military capability is pretty soon going to start being an immense deterrent to screwing with their business. They’re turning up the heat. And they’re not going to play nice.
