If you do this – go volunteer on the farm, bring clothes that you’re okay with getting stinky. I spent a summer vacation on a pig farm in Missouri as a kid. The smell sticks with you.
Nothing against piglets, though. They’re adorable and as fun as puppies.
I have a sudden urge to cuddle a pig.
Furthermore:
I would so cuddle piggies! Sounds like a blast.
I’d never adopt a full-size hog (especially) or sow, but pigs in general do make great pets; I’d certainly entertain thoughts about a pygmy version. Like dogs, given even half a chance they really like humans and return affection tenfold.
Do they play, and what do they consider fun?
Not to knock being relaxed and wel fed, that sounds great to me.
How can a single animal be so adorable and so delicious at the same time?
Just don’t take them out for a drive:
Even adult pigs often will play, if well-fed and comfy. The biggest boars and sows, however… Not so much. But if socialized well, they remain quite friendly, even at hundreds of pounds.
Piglets play even when hungry, just like puppies ^^’ .
@vrplumber Ask any dog or cat, they’re both quite popular as food animals in much of the world. I’m absolutely certain I’ve also had cat and enjoyed it, sadly; a local buffet in Wichita, KS that I used to frequent pretty often was busted for serving…er…broccoli cat (not apocryphal; it was front-page news) =x .
Do tell! I was more of a Kings-X “diner” kind of person, but that was due to living on the far west side.
Sorry, but my parents taught me not to play with my food.
A long time ago, but I remember the piggy-pile-ons are a lot like puppy-pile-ons. Some of them even play favorites if you sufficiently bond with them. I had one little guy who just had to have all the attention.
When you say pygmy pig do you mean a teacup/mini pig? Because there isn’t really such a thing, here’s an article on the subject: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/10/140930-animals-culture-science-miniature-pigs-breeders-sanctuaries/
So wait, if we spend time cuddling pigs they become well socialized?
Can I get a horde of volunteers to every police station in the land? (maybe cuddles will keep them from shooting melanin enriched people…)
We tried that. It seems like cuddling them and treating them like heroes after 9/11 made them forget that they are supposed to protect other people at the cost of their lives, not protect their lives at the cost of other people…
No thanks, they are disgusting, noisy, loud, filthy creatures.
On windy days you know when you’re nearing a pig farm.
Are you referring to the cop-pigs, or the pig-pigs?
