His and Hers, no less. Was it a wedding present? Amazon add-on to round up the order? MAGA rally giveaway? And yes, the fact they they just happened to have these around.
“Oh, these old things? We only wear them when the time is Reich.”
This freaking Nazi shit is driving me crazy. I don’t know what kind of algorithm I’ve triggered, but every time I open Amazon these days, I am being recommended military marches and music from the (Intentional lower case here) third freaking reich.
Is Amazon intentionally trying to steer me towards this shitz? I have Jewish blood. I am disgusted every time they pump that crap at me, but they do.Ugh
Huh, I didn’t think amazon was selling stuff like that anymore. I glanced at their rules and it says:
Products that contain violent or offensive material that has no historical significance. Amazon reserves the right to make a determination on the historical value of the item.
If a privately owned restaurant can refuse to seat you at a table for refusing to wear a tie then a Walmart can ABSOLUTELY refuse to let you inside for wearing Nazi paraphernalia. And then Nazi supporters can choose to boycott Walmart.
I think here in Canada, displaying a swastika would be considered hate speech, and although we have strong freedom of speech laws, the exception is hate speech.
If one thinks America is sliding into fascism, wearing the trappings of it ironically isn’t the way to get your point across. EVERYONE is thinking you’re a Nazi if you wear a swastika. It is how it works.
Try something else. A crossed out swastika, or one of those “swastikas thrown into a waste bin” type things.
Ironically it seem to me she isn’t even aware of the actual fascism in America. Mask mandates are not fascism.
Yes, most states have ‘at-will’ employment. An employer can choose to fire you at any moment and not have to give a reason. Unless you can PROVE in a court of law that they’ve fired you for being part of a protected class, you’re stuck.
So of course if the employer has realized you’re likely to vote against Trump in November, or punch Nazis for fun on the weekends, they technically have the right to fire you, as long as they don’t mess it up by telling you why.
That’s not the same thing as having the right to fire you for refusing to side with Nazis.
What do you mean “mess up by telling you why”? Again, politics is not a protected class. Unless the firing falls under a protected class, you can be fired for any reason. An employer can legally say “I don’t like people who’ve ever had a mustache and I just found out you did once. You are fired”. There is nothing an employee can do.
Actually. They could tell you that was the reason depending on what state you live in. Political affiliation is not a federally protected class and it varies form state to state.
RI for instance you can be terminated of your employer disagrees with you being a Nazi.
CA for instance protects political classes and your employer has to accept your affiliation and find another reason to terminate you. Say for being an asshole and there are interpersonal conflicts.
Yeah I was referring to the German laws applying to the US. Hell, a business could REQUIRE a swastika here as long as it’s not a “public accomodation”. They’d probably get sued, but it’d be messy. - G_r_ld_z_n_r
Forcing someone to wear a swastika has nothing to do with politics. It isn’t a political symbol. You don’t get charged with a hate crime for spray-painting a republican elephant on someone’s house.
Nowhere in the US can an employer force you to wear a swastika. I have no idea why anyone thinks that could happen. It’s absurd.
Yes that’s right, that’s what I meant. The government can’t tell Walmart what it can and cannot express in its stores, but Walmart certainly can tell its employees and customers what they can and cannot express. (I’m glossing over one other factor, that while Walmart itself has 1A protection on its own property, commercial speech per se has very little 1A protection in general.) The only protection customers would have is that Walmart is a public accommodation. But any kind of real 1A protection inside? No. Costco did end up forced to allow some 1A activity in parking lots, but they put a lot of restrictions on how that activity could occur. And malls that are covered by Pruneyard also have some 1A activity forced on them.
Again I believe that long-term, as some of the conservative justices are replaced on SCOTUS, hate speech will lose its 1A protection entirely. Biden already has a list of black female SCOTUS justices and I don’t know who is on the list but I doubt any of them will want to protect that kind of hate speech.
Not quite true. If you sufficiently embarrass your employer, you can get fired. If you sufficiently embarrass your neighbors, you can be shunned. I kicked ALL of the Trump acolytes, even relatives, off my FB friends list. You are, after all, known by the company you keep!
