Needs a bingo card. @wazroth?
I can provide The Standard Bingo Card (v. 1.2) for reference, but we’ll need to see how discussion plays out on the topic before I can make a customized one.
(I feel like we’ve seen this or similar compilations before. Maybe I should review the comment histories there.)
This may be glean-able from the posting, but from personal experience: this ‘fun’ exit (165B off of I-5) takes one from 55mph and full sunlight, through a rather dark tunnel, hard right turn, to full stop at at a cross street-light in let’say 220 meters (722 feet). And shorter than that if there are already cars stopped at the light ahead of you. If one isn’t familiar/ready for that stop …well, cue the Benny Hill Yakaty Sax music.
Isn’t this a new “fully self-driving” car video?
Yeeeeeeeehaaaawww!!
“Looks like them Duke boys have arrived in Seattle!”
Though that blog headline images of when I saw a crash up derby when I was very young, around 4, at a fair. I was crying and upset because they were going to get in trouble for crashing their cars.
I was such a rule follower.
Reboing!
Maybe people need to slow the fuck down and stop thinking they’re qualifying for the pole position at the Indy 500 every time they get behind the wheel?
Let’s add that to the bingo card! @wazroth?
Seriously, though, I’ve taken this exit. Going from normal legal highway speed to this curve is a white-knuckle affair if you don’t know what to expect. You need to brake from 55 mph to about 20 mph in less than 100 yards. On a hairpin turn. Locals slow down out on the highway well before the signs warn about it.
It did look like a Tesla in there at :56.
Ah the Union st exit. I’ve never experienced an accident there, but even after taking it many times I still think it’s a bit startling.
(furiously scribbles in notebook)
they should paint the street orange there, like a hot wheels track
I lived about a block away from that exit years ago; I tried to avoid it as much as possible.
I have hunch it may be a reboing, but I’m probably imagining it.
ETA thanks @DukeTrout
The obvious bingo candidates will reveal themselves quickly. So I’m going to go for “they should put speed bumps on the exit road”
No, this is definitely a re-Boing. I’m positive.
ETA: Ah, @DukeTrout
I lived in Seattle for two years. I have also lived in 6 other states and driven in 7 other countries. Washington state drivers are the absolute worst I have ever seen!
Really? I’ve seen worse.
Oh that exit. Used a bunch when I lived there. Never really thought about it, but it is a bit weird now that I watch the video.
My complaint was always about the merge from the left onto a busy highway off the 520. Then to get to that exit you have to cross over three lanes, four lanes?
It’s been a while - but I lived in Seattle in 1988 and then Everett, then Bellingham. But I would have to say you are 100% correct. Absolutely clueless drivers there.
Hopefully they have learned how to merge onto the freeway since then.
