Ignorance isn’t something to be ashamed of: obligatory XKCD. But willful ignorance is stupidity. There’s a huge difference between simply not knowing something while not wanting to admit it, and asserting that everyone who might know that thing is lying to you while only you know the truth. The first is understandable, the second is batshit crazy.
