That is probably part of it. On the flipside, girls do notably better than boys in school here, and a majority of the teachers are women; I don’t quite know what that does to their style - or to that of the boys. Of course, some of them also did work in private companies before they ended up with us, and negative experiences there could well have shaped it.
Exactly for the reasons found in the beginning of that article, I’d suggest you take what I say as no more than a single anecdote for now.
(I’m making dinner, so I haven’t had time to do more than skim the first paragraphs.)
Just for the record, I have no problem with vocal fry or uptalk in general (though taken to extremes it can be a bit much). I think complaining about it is mostly pointless language policing, get-off-my-lawnishness or snobishness. Languages evolve naturally, and no doubt the grown up children of our slam poet will be complaining about some new fad in language style long after we’re all gone.
Missypants, @anon61221983, or even @anon15383236 Whatever. We’re all the same right? Talk to one talk to all three. We are the triumvirate of feminist topics. Obviously.
I engaged with you in this discussion, because too many of the other people who are in this topic are not taking this issue seriously. I thought we were having a heated, but reasoned argument. I attempted to not name call and to treat you with respect. I’m sorry that you think otherwise. I guess this discussion is at an end, then.
Saying that it’s only old white men who are doing it is not supported by a simple web search though, I provided a link to disprove this earlier in the thread.
