Watch big shark circling unwitting swimmer

I had the same thought. This person could have started yelling way before anyone else did. It seems he wanted to catch a shark attack on film more than ensure the safety of the swimmer.

It was not circling her, it followed her trying to figure out what she was, but not circling. I am so disappointed when media gets their facts wrong.

FWIW, most shark attacks are what’s called an, “Exploratory Bite”. As in, if they are really curious what something is, they will bite it.

So just because it was curious and checking her out, doesn’t mean it wasn’t going to bite her. What we saw just had not escalated to an exploratory bite.

sometimes people will move in such a way as to trigger a sharks direct curiosity.

most often sharks are just check out the food opportunities stirred up by the swimmer and will circle back and forth around the arc of disturbance caused by the swimmer. as a swimmer swims through shallow water like these there is an arc of small prey that avoid them and are easy pickings.
