I think I already told the story about my dad having a bush dog in Alaska named Pup. He would bark at bears and wasn’t afraid of much. But when a big ol’ grizzly sow wandered into their camp and got into the supply shack and into a tin of molasses, he decided discretion was the better part of valor.

Sometimes I wonder if black bears being such scaredy-cats is the selective pressure of us killing all the angry, aggressive ones for hundreds of years.
