Watch: GOP senator warns Taylor Swift that socialism bans women from singing

Threat of soviet style communism in the US is nil.

But I do believe the GOP is eternally envious of Stalin and hope to reproduce, if nothing else, his body count.

She is merely spewing what she & the rest of her Christofascist cultists dream of doing to everyone else in this country; multiple States are already doing their damndest to set up one party governments, so if this shit isn’t stopped at the Federal level, then we are done.

ETA:
Just heard the Democrats in the Texas Lege are going to flee the State in order to stymie the attempted takeover by the Fascists.
Good!

The Life of Brian joke is about the Trotskyist groups in Britain, who couldn’t seem to be able to have a meeting without splitting over whether they should have tea or coffee, then would have further splits over what kind of biscuit to have with it. There are currently 16 different Trotskyist parties and groups in the UK (not counting the Irish parties active in Northern Ireland).

On the other hand, the differences between Marxism-Leninism and libertarian socialism can be a matter of life and death, almost always the MLs life and the libsocs death. My distrust of MLs is not a trivial matter, it really is a scorpion and the frog situation.

It becomes a matter of life or death when people make it so. In the name of purity or correctness or the meaning of what the dead founder wrote or whatever - groups with VERY similar goals kill each other over what amounts to a manifest argument over biscuits - with the latent rationale being who gets to be in charge.

And so, as I said earlier - while we argue, our freedoms are being taken from us, hand over fist. We don’t need to decide what to call it, we need to find a way to agree that we all share the same (or very similar) goals - and move on from there.

It’s a pipe dream, I am certain. It’s related to your scorpion and frog analogy in the sense that human beings tend towards being scorpions.

I don’t think you intended your response to @anon73430903 to be as glib as it reads, as my impression of you as a poster is that you show empathy and compassion.

There are members of the BBS who have direct, lived experience with how so-called “allies” have been abusive, even dangerous, to vulnerable people. @anon73430903 even cited many historical examples. It continues to this day. It’s not just history to them; it’s current affairs.

It wasn’t intended to be glib at all - I was trying to be more direct. I apologize to @anon73430903 and you for the impression I created. Also, thank you for the compliment - I will try to live up to it. These are very trying times…but that’s really no excuse.
