Nice!

I have the VHS of this and now will not have to figure out how to hook up that ancient box to watch it again!

“You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll kiss 3 bucks goodbye!”

Gee, that doesn’t sound so funny any more!

Kids today don’t always appreciate just how rare it was to see this kind of homebrew pop culture parody in the days before easy access to home video editing and digital effects. Heck, it took Mel Brooks a decade after the release of the original Star Wars to make Spaceballs.

Hardware Wars was a film that every kid at my Elementary school heard about back in the late 1970s, but only one of us had seen.

They showed it to the whole class in my school in 1979. So many good bits, like Ham Salad’s Cookie-Monster-like co-pilot munching on the princess’s hairdo.

Difficult to get anything like HD when your source material was shot on super 8 film.

A very faithful rendering of blobby granular film.

I repeatedly checked out a super 8 projector and this film from the local library to watch this at home in the early 80’s.

Was awesome. I know there were others, but this is the one that was memorable.
