A.D.Moore’s famous book includes a bunch of easy-to-make generators using things like plastic tubing and ball bearings, and doesn’t require destroying anyone’s underwear. If all you want is a good source of static charge, the very easiest is the guts of a DC powered ion generator.

I’m very impressed with this project, but I’m even more impressed at the fact this guys still has all his fingers after watching him use a saw.
“clumsy” is his shtick.
