Watch the trailer for "Wonder Woman 1984"

For what it’s worth, I was referring to the movie, not the music. I would have thought you’d have picked up on that since you seem to think you know me so well.

I’d suggest watching the actual movie to see what level of inventiveness it displays rather than dismiss it as “mush” from a trailer that shows the exciting bits to draw people in. I’ve no idea why you would assume its story isn’t inventive or interesting from what we’ve all seen.

And in the 70s they were throwbacks to surplus Navy Dungarees.

Precedent? Pattern recognition?

If it’s your yum, then yum it up. I’m not going to yuck it and tell you you’re wrong for liking it.

But it’s clearly a mushup of the franchise du jour with the current trend towards 80’s nostalgia and it’s to that that I was referring.

I was jumping on things pretty fast myself. No harm, no foul.

Us poor Gen-Xers here (who are more to blame for 80s nostaligia than our parents, come on!) will go to our graves with no respect. :older_adult:

On the other hand, it does mean we get to dodge a lot of the blame, I guess. Grandma and Grandpa get shafted, but we get the Dad Jokes and Mom Pants stuff. So it’s a wash.

I was surprised to discover, decades later, that the Soft Cell version was a cover of a standard. I assumed that it was an original composition by Marc Almond and David Ball because it fitted them so perfectly.
