Or maybe the taste of whatever denaturant was in it (probably Bitrex). Lick your fingers after using hand sanitiser if you want to replicate the experience yourself.

It appeared the hand sanitizer went in its EYES as well, which would probably distract anyone from eating themself. Now if you’ll excuse me, I missed lunch…

Snakes have a transparent scale covering their whole eye, so it won’t bother them as much as it would you or me.
