I think some a big part of his posse are counting on this, as it means they’ve a shot at president, or king grifter, when he goes. Giuliani, DeSantis, Kushner, Trump Jr, Ivanka, Lindell, all Republican senators and the majority of republican reps must know he’s not the healthiest, and think that when he goes, the base is going to circle around some other idiot, and maybe, just maybe, they could be that idiot.

I have this general sense that there is getting to be less and less space between the Qs and the Sovereign Citizens. I’m not sure what this means, either for the Qs, or for the country.

There’s a meme out there, about how Trump allows conservatives to be their worst selves, and they’ll never leave him because of that. I think that’s closer to the truth of things. When you have permission to scream profanities and knock shit over and trash the place – and it’s good that you did so! – you will never, NEVER leave the glorious leader who revels in it.

There is a lot of truth to this. For several decades, the the GOP and evangelical leaders have been working hard to create a merger of sorts that removes any formal distinction between the two movements. Christian=Republican, full stop. So when a person like Trump ascends to GOP leadership, he authorizes them by proxy to lie, hate, or whatever. All that Jesus stuff is repealed and replaced by the new leaders command. All of a sudden, “grab 'em by the P----” is now biblical canon.

Certain ones like Shapiro and Jordaddy and Crowder claim it for sure, but never deliver on it for people with actual critical-thinking skills. At best it’s the HS debate-club nerd’s simulacrum of the calm and rational (and smug) “sanest man in the room”, undergirded by a bunch of fallacies and misrepresentations. A stupid person’s image of a smart person.
And for all their airs they’re also willing to give a pass to lunacy like this as long as it comes from someone they perceive as an ally.
