I fuckin’love Lustmord. Expect any YouTube upload to be nuked quicksmart tho. He or his label are Not Fond of random YT vids of his work.
I haven’t heard of Lustmord yet but he seems pretty great. UnicaZürn at the same youtube channel is also pretty nice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxgghmBBfCk
These kind of remind me of Brian Reitzell’s score for Hannibal, only I guess with less percussion. Reitzell’s theme score for the season 2 finale of Hannibal (somewhat misleadingly titled “Bloodfest”) which is basically the Aria of the Goldberg Variations slowed down to a beautiful, haunting crawl, is one of the most effective, atmospheric music I’ve ever heard.
I’ve had Lustmord’s “Paradise Disowned” on vinyl since the 80’s. Truly inspired yet terrifying work. I break it out on Halloween to scare the kids. This post has me poring through the discography. Thanks for reminding me of such a cool musician/music project.
I was surprised to see the photo I took of Lustmord playing live used as the header of the wikipedia article (and now used on the BB front page). Entirely correct, I uploaded it to flickr with a CC license. I would have thought there be loads other Lustmord pictures to chose from, but perhaps he’s not often photographed?
The Robert Rich/Lustmord album “Stalker” is one of my all-time favorites. And I even have a copy of the Artemiev OST.
This is great. Reminds me somewhat of a favorite: Chris Bocast’s Through The Airlock. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kXgooTPPNT-q8F5JlVQPIESAfCQFmMUhA
If Ridley Scott is planning a new Alien movie (and please god, let’s hope he isn’t!) this would be a great soundtrack for the trailer.
Other good weird ambient is Atrium Carceri, Lunar Abyss Quartet, and, for the name alone, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.
Wow! Thank you for introducing me to Lustmord. Perfect ambient weirdness.
