Mine would have to be Magnolia, Big Fish Mulholland Drive. That ought to cover all the emotions I’d be missing out on.

For those that just want his responses:

Blow Out (Brian De Palma)
Rio Bravo (Howard Hawks)
Taxi Driver, specifically citing the Criterion Edition (Martin Scorsese)

Ecch!

I was looking up movies about surviving in the wild, thinking I’d find something about actual survival skills, bc, you know, desert island. Guess which one shows up in the top ten of all the “surviving in the wilderness” lists???
“Into the Wild.”
Ummm, “surviving?”… that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
:unamused:

Also - Mullholland Drive would be freaky AF watching alone in the dark on a deserted island! The old couple? The sweaty guy? :grimacing:

Gotta watch Big Fish. Meant to at the time and ever since.

I wonder how many people wouldn’t even think about a porn flick and then immediately regret it when they’re long-term stuck on a desert island?

I might finally get the time to watch a Bela Tarr or Lav Diaz movie if I was trapped on a desert island.

Not what I’d be doing though!

I haven’t seen the other two, but Taxi Driver is a favorite of mine.

I dunno, I feel like any movie I’d get sick of if I only had 3 to watch.

I guess if I were to make a list it would be

Empire Strikes Back
The Crow
City of Lost Children

But I feel like on another day 1 or 2 of them could be swapped.

Ha, hadn’t thought of that angle! When I had Netflix’s disc plan I started Satantango but by the time I got around to watching the first disc and returning they’d removed the other discs. I kinda thought I wouldn’t like it but it was strangely mesmerizing.

Three is just way too few for a desert island. Need at least 10.

I had a roommate for less than two weeks before I found out he was a raging alcoholic. He’d pop Independence Day into the VCR every evening and start drinking. To this day, I doubt he’s ever seen the ending.

I’m surprised he didn’t list 3 foot fetish movies

That’s a hell of a list.

Mine would be:

  1. Aliens
  2. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood (all episodes in one - cheating I know)
  3. Lord of the Rings 3-movie extended compilation version (more cheating)

I wouldn’t pick it unless it were expanded to like 50 or 100 movies but Blow Out is actually a reasonable choice in that if you can’t decide which Hitchcock movie you want and you also want Antonioni you get like several movies for the price of one.

I can narrow it down to four: Rocky Horror, Galaxy Quest, Big Lebowski, and The Wicker Man; but can’t decide which one to omit.
