Rachel Maddox is good. And, you’re right; this isn’t as bad as it has been. This isn’t the Uganda “Kill The Gays” bill… (right?)
My children have rules.
If Ms. Forrester is so concerned, perhaps she should set rules for hers, too.
Save the effort. Send them gay porn.
Came here to make the same point.
There are tons of things I don’t want my kids doing. Like voting conservative.
Are ‘erototoxins’ still around in wingnut circles? I haven’t heard it mentioned as much lately; but they used to trot out the finest neuroscience a communications major could provide to the effect that looking at porn (but not, curiously, sexual stimuli in the context of duly sanctioned traditional marriage) caused brain damage by spurring the secretion of unspecified ‘erototoxins’.
I have to admit a certain admiration for the bold, plucky, brand of disconnection from reality possessed by that theory.
Strangely, they always seem to want The State to step in and make those rules for our children; but not in a ‘big government’ or ‘nanny state’ sort of way, or by doing anything that would interfere with parental rights; but y’know, somehow still rules.
It’s enough to make one suspect that the ‘small’ in ‘small government’ requires knowledge of some sort of specialist geometry and measure theory to correctly understand.
I keep telling people that all politicians are cowards and the only reason they cave in to nutty gun-fondlers, and the lobbying arm of the gun industry known as the NRA, is because they’re more frightened of them than they are of the people who want far more gun control… a group that includes actual gun owners in great numbers.
But the people who want better laws and better law-makers only go vote for people with limited powers like a President or Prime Minister and ignore all of the politicians at less glamorous levels who actually make things happen. As the saying goes: You get the government you deserve.
Never heard of that before. Huh, you learn something new…
Everything I needed to know about moral reformers I learned from Sadie Thompson.
“Is the Republican Party around here somewhere? I hear it’s really changing because of this whole ‘Trump’ thing. Oh, there it is! Hey there little fella… why, you haven’t changed at all!”
Did GOP decided to endorse the ultra-right kooks? Because this sounds like the kind of drivel lampooned on CognitiveDissonance Podcast. Typical headlines include:
- Peter LaBarbera: Gay Rights Movement is a “Liberal Cult” and “Anti-God”
- Richard Land: Trump and get Evangelical vote by promising to appoint Ted Cruz to supreme court
- Theodore Shoebat says Jesus is “going to kill all these sodomites when he returns”
- Anti-Choice Movement is going all-in for Trump
- Trump forms “Evangelical Executive Advisory Board” with ultra-right figures such as Bachmann and Dobson
Ooooh! New drugs! Where can I get some?
Guns are really, not much of a public health problem. How about why are these people killing themselves, because while 2/3 of gun related deaths are suicides, the % of suicide that use a gun is dropping, suicide is climbing.
Or, how about the 5 YEARS of life expectancy that poor white women have recently lost? It’s not being going in the right direction for all manner of people, but they have lost the most.
Well, they clearly have developed enough of a tolerance that they can handle doses of cognitive dissonance that would kill a normal man.
Anyone who claims to support “small government” but believes that drugs should be illegal is a worthless, hypocritical, shit-stain.

So all the things they still to eliminate?
Eliminating porn?
Don’t tell their base!

#1 public health crisis
Bad food and sloth.
It’s… research!
Yeah, that’s it! Nothing but research! Ha ha!
If it’s nutrient free then people wouldn’t be obese.
