Whatcha Watchin' (Season 2)

Oh yeah. The whole premise is completely different.

There was another version a few years before that is pretty faithful, but I think it is not as much fun, despite my deep and abiding love for Stephen Mangan.

Noted; as I still plan to go back and read the source material.

Nothing at all has been spoiled for you then, aside from knowing the names of a couple of characters

I saw DG about 6-8 months before I discovered Schitt’s Creek; I couldn’t place the guy for the longest time because the characters he played are so very different.

What is weird is that the earlier, more faithful one is the one just titled Dirk Gently!

Anyone watching this? Comfortably creepy so far, but I am just on episode one. I am trying to get to a mental place where I can enjoy shows like this even though the odds are they will a) never end, or b) end incredibly badly.

What is it about? I just saw it in a list today and was intrigued - I love Mercutio

Survival horror, seems like, thus far. Saying more than the imdb description would spoiler. Feels like Lost, The Walking Dead, yadda yadda. I am trying not to think too much about the similarities, to keep my optimism up.

I will have to check it out - thanks!

Another retro feminist detective show, like Frankie Drake and Bletchley Circle, but in a dark and dismal Victorian England this time

And Miss Fisher, if you haven’t seen it

I read this negative review:

So it looks like I might like it!

I really enjoyed Philip Pullman’s Sally Lockhart series of books Sally Lockhart - Wikipedia
They went from “fierce” and fun to, by the end, actively incensed by Victorian era bigotry, racism, sexism, hatred of the poor, theft by the rich, rigging of everything, slavery, warmongering, industrial capitalism traducing democracy etc. etc.

Only the first two were made into TV shows I think, and I may have only seen one of them but I enjoyed it. Not sure how much I would have had I not loved the books.

That’s the one. Wasn’t very memorable really, despite some good comedy actors involved i can’t remember a lot about it. Although Dirk did drive an Austin Princess in it.

Started watching this, not a lot of substance but the animation is great and it wastes 20 minutes.

The last several days the wife and I have been binge watching Antiques Road Trip on Pluto. It’s a dedicated channel.

It’s from the BBC and it’s been on for quite a few years. I used catch it occasionally on cable.

A couple antique experts, about 6 regulars, compete for 5 one hour shows buying stuff and then auctioning the items at the end of every episode

It’s really pleasant to watch and every show takes a couple side trips to historical sites.

They also have celebrity shows where the experts team up with a celebrity and compete.

Those episodes are really fun to watch and are a little longer than an hour.

All the regulars are very good and have great personalities. I do have to Google the celebrities though.

It’s also nice seeing the old towns they visit for antique shops.

Usually Law & Order sifts last year’s tabloid news for story ideas

but L&O: Organized Crime seems to think Fight Club and Mr. Robot were historical events that they could re-use without getting called out for being derivative :robot:
