Whatcha Watchin' (Season 2)

Up to episode 3 and, well… yeah. :cold_sweat:

I wonder if the part when Wanda hurled Monica through three physical walls plus the outer energy barrier when she exiled her to the “real world” was intentionally written as a “breaking the fourth wall” joke.

I’m ashamed I missed that pun.

I wonder if the Bucky/Falcon show is going to deal with this more. It was originally going to air first but I believe covid issues pushed it back.

Totally agreed.

@Garymon

Does it really need to be stated that you meant Wanda was the one trying to pretend that “everything was normal,” even though it was obvious to audience that was very much NOT the case at all?

I guess it fucking does.

Oh im pretty sure that was intentional. i just checked she goes thru 4 walls as it happens. Internal housewall, external wall, a fence and then the energy bubble

We must have been watching different shows. There were plenty of signs all thru episode 1 and 2 that nothing was normal and fine.

Either that, or you just didn’t bother reading my original comment carefully enough.

Have a nice day now; I’m not interested in engaging you further. Thanks.

I watched it all last night. It was fun but yes, the first couple were kind of pointless. Only getting to the story by part three was a bit wearing.

That’s what I was agreeing with, the facade of normalcy notwithstanding.

Oh, I get it. “Hex” powers.

Lots of puns throughout…

Paul Bettany is funny too, especially when he’s not dressed up like a Techno Crayon.

Can’t wait for the Halloween ep where they dress up in their original costumes from the comics.

That would be awesome

I really liked the first two episodes of W/V. An enjoyable slow burn, then ep.3 with a little more clue, then ep.4, DARCY!

20 mins later, having finished ep.4, love the references and recurring characters, from Captain Trouble to Monica Rambeau.

Vision, though, does actually resemble a 7-year old’s pencil case.

Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. I meant the writers. They had the job of balancing the “TV stories” like the boss coming over for dinner with the bigger story of what is really happening with Wanda and others in the MCU.

ETA: One video I was watching pointed out that when we watched the dinner scene we didn’t know if the people were real humans or just a magical creation. When they went back and re-watched the scene after watching ep 4, they suddenly fully appreciated how terrifying the dinner was at the end for the wife. She knew what was happening to her husband but couldn’t speak freely. She had to keep saying her chipper line and keep smiling.

A show like Lost season 1 started with a blank slate so they could start off writing like this is just a regular island with some crash survivors. Then slowly drip in that something more is happening. Even at that they let us know at the end of ep 1 with roar of cerberus that this was more than just a survival show.

With Wanda the majority of the viewers know her powers and have been reading about the show format for months. So the writers, writing the first 2 episodes like we don’t know what is going on felt unnecessary. I think they could have speed up the drip of the external world into the show a bit faster.

Im not so sure the majority of viewers know this. If you only have enjoyed the films and know nothing of Wanda’s true powers, then the show exploring what she can actually do is new to you. The films barely even scratch the surface of what she is capable of (let alone her retcon from mutant child to derived from magic stone. )

That could be true. In my little bubble I have seen near daily discussions about what the nature of the “shows” will be. Even if I started watching it with zero advance knowledge I think I would have figured out pretty fast that none of what we were seeing was real and that the mini stories didn’t matter in the long run. But that is just me. If people really enjoyed the first two episodes that’s great. I had a feeling things would pick up so I kept watching. I know several people that quit the show after episode 2 and I have been trying to get them to come back and give it another watch.

ETA: The friends that quit all were similar in that they don’t watch any of the nerd discussions. Their explanation of why they quit was it was boring and confusing and they just didn’t care to keep watching.
