Whatcha Watchin'?

That would not appear to be a good trade.[/quote]
I can’t argue with that.

I was going to drop Hulu because of the Criterion loss, but I’ve started watching the old Dick Cavett shows (really rewatching, but I don’t remember them that well from 40 years ago!), and they are so wonderful that I think I’ll stick with it until I’m through them.

My credit card expires this month, it was a temporary frustration

Well…

At least the thing I’ve disliked about the last few episodes appears to be sorted. I really liked the first couple of series (the first one especially).

I don’t know if we dislike the same element, but I thought “The Six Thatchers” was a big improvement in that the element that irritated me seems to be written out now. I gave up on “Sherlock” after what I thought was a weak Series 3 finale episode, blah cliffhanger, unconvincing characters, and forwarding of a jejune domesticity story arc. But others’ anticipation infected me so I watched.

Apparently there will be a Season Three for Man in the High Castle. Not that anyone here other than me will be especially thrilled about it.

Just wrapped up the last season of iZombie, which I quite enjoyed.

I totally think that Blaine is faking his memory loss!

I really want to like the show, but I’ve been on episode 3 for a few months now and can’t finish it.

There are some decent animated shorts on Netflix right now.

Just watched this and really enjoyed it:

In related news, am becoming a big fan of Taika Waititi.

You might want to stay unsubscribed, Hulu has had another mass extinction event in the last couple of days. For example, all the Cohen Media group stuff (wonderful prints of offbeat French films. especially the phenomenal That Man From Rio) are now gone. My Hulu watchlist is now down to 2 movies. It reminds me of one of those Sci Fi tropes where the universe keeps shrinking so people keep disappearing but everyone remaining acts like nothing has happened.

The Matrix trilogy. Stands up.

Yeah, I think I’m over Hulu at this point. I’m giving it the month though, because I want to feel like I’ve completed Atlantis. I almost quit when they stopped arrow and the flash. It does seem like the whole selection is getting smaller and crappier.

Me too. What We Do in the Shadows has a deadpan Flight of the Conchords feel to it. Maybe this is characteristic NZ humour?

I greatly enjoyed Boy, but the DVD I watched had no subtitles, and I missed a lot of dialogue because of the accents.

I have that on hold at the library. Really like What We Do in the Shadows.

I think someone else has mentioned this somewhere else. @anon61221983?

EDIT: no, it was @monkeyoh

Yeah. It was fine, actually. Worth seeing.

I should have listened.

Season 1 was good.
Season 2 felt like they did season 1 over, but not bad.
Season 3…Huh? Whaaaa? Yeah, that was bleh.

*lolz

But seriously, that third season was just worthless; and a total disservice to all the good actors that were in it.

I quite liked bits of it. The Wild West stuff was a good idea and would have worked much better if they’d committed to it a lot more and stopped fucking about switching scenes. The choppy pacing really took a lot of the tension away.
I loved that stand-alone episode with Eva Green even though it did seem a lot like an afterthought dropped in. But the ending to the season was muddy and felt rushed and the whole flow of the story arc just didn’t work at all for me.

In the beginning so did I. The idea was good, it was the execution that was lacking.

ITA.

Not to mention, Vanessa Fucking Ives of all characters, just ‘giving up’ at the end was total character assassination, IMO.
