Still fairly certain they, and most people, just see “science” as an opposing tribe, and not, you know, the process of uncovering the uncaring underlying truths of the universe.
Fair enough, their public image took a beating. But they’re rats. If they cared about their image they wouldn’t go around calling themselves rats in the first place.

The problem there is that the science deniers are somehow more likely to throw you off the cliff, to show you how stupid you are for believing in the hoax of gravity.
