So if the assessor claims it’s worth $20 million but Trump is paying taxes as if it’s only worth $15 million, perhaps the state of Florida or the town in which it’s located should seize it under eminent domain by paying him the $15 million he claims it’s worth and put it up for sale with an asking price of $20 million.

I mean one or the other must be wrong unless there’s some very technical difference in the way properties are valued for tax purposes.
Since he has apparently never succeeded in overturning the assessments on this golf course in the past, I would tend to go with the appraiser on this one. Admittedly, past performance is no guide to future returns, etc. but still…

Oh yes there is! Last year I learned to sell P&C insurance, and I was told to always use true market value when insuring a home - tax assessments are pure fiction.
This is standard operating procedure for lots of companies.
I suspect in this case both claims are pure fiction.
As is ‘market value’ of course but don’t tell estate agents that…
