Why it is a very bad idea to keep a lynx as a pet

It was probably over stimulation. For some cats, they really like to be touched in particular places, like base of the tail, because those places are extra sensitive. But too much or too vigorous petting around those spots can change from being pleasant to unpleasant. At which point the cats murder switch is turned on.

Thatā€™s true, and their ability to race after human owners and eat them is limited by the fact that they hate racing in all forms.

Tell me about it. The amount of money wasted in this country every year expensively maintaining listed buildings is a national disgrace. The original idea of preserving good specimens of past architecture has turned into a massive heritage industry. Iā€™m not anti history - I looked after a Victorian house for many years in a conservation area and restored it carefully - but if we had English Heritage back in the 16th century many of the present listed buildings wouldnā€™t be around because what was on the site before would have been preserved instead.
Iā€™d rather see a lot of the less good old buildings demolished, and some decent new ones built.

It doesnā€™t even have to be that old. Where I used to work the old data center building is being emptied and turned into space for old canā€™t get off of yet servers or lab/testing servers. It was built before modern data center building codes and it works out to be far cheaper just build a new one over the other side of the mountains where the power is cheaper as well than it would be to update the existing building.
