Could be. It was directed by a woman, but the screenplay was written by a man (Allan Heinberg).
You’re right. I remembered incorrectly. Possibly due to the movie. I meant to refer to the comic but mixed some things up. Still, the part about her starting out as a feminist icon before getting turned into a good house wife (I’ve also seen her used as the Justice League’s coffee lady) is true and sad.
As long as sexists hold power, any attempt to create women-friendly content is easily subverted.

If you mean Justice Society, that was Gardner Fox, who was in charge of the Justice Society comics. WW was still being kick-ass in her own comics.
