I often wonder what folks who are engaged in police pursuit while driving a slow-moving vehicle are thinking as they slowly “evade”? Do they think there will be some stroke of luck where the police cars break down or something?

About 1 am one morning (prolly 45 years ago) I pulled up to a rural stop sign, after an evening at friends’. Looked left, where I wanted to go, and here was a whole two-story house coming down the highway at me, taking up the entire road and then some. The sheriff came back from the right and advised me to just sit tight for a minute. Cool. I was generally OK with anything on many nights, at that particular time in my life.
