Trying really hard to imagine it being this Keefe:
I spent countless record-spinning hours pouring over every inch of this haunting cover,
You mean “poring over”. You can’t pour over it because, you know, cardboard.
I guess I didn’t look as closely; I always assumed it was Ozzy.
But “Witchy Woman” was an Eagles song.
I’m looking forward to the post that finally reveals who is on the cover of the Grateful Dead’s Live/Dead.
Just put the album on the turntable, next up is my Dear Wife asking me WTF are you doing it’s 7 AM on a Sunday…
Long live Rock & Roll.
This is why I have headphones. The only noise she will hear is that of the coffee being prepared.
But who is the woman on the cover of Davis/Evans’ Porgy and Bess?
There were so many urban legends about this album cover when I was young.
A friend was terrified when they said it was a picture of a ghost. The legend said that someone took a picture of an old house where a witch lived and when the photograph was developed, a woman, who was not there at the time of the photo shoot, appeared. Spooky…
Others, more playful, said the woman was Ozzy or Tommy Iomii, who were very handsome at the time, according to these stupid friends who loved to mock metalheads.
I love these wonderful batshit crazy urban legends!
Your Pro Tips are priceless, off to the Amazon for bluetooth headphones…
Poor Owl.
Could not agree more.
That’s the Sabbath, so…
That’s what I said, but I still got a time out…
My main musical obsessions for repeat-play from my early youth:
Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath
Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin III
Grand Funk Railroad – Closer To Home
The Beatles – Abbey Road
The Who – Who’s Next
… and everything Motown
Friend of mine went to an Ozzy signing with his vinyl copy. He asked Ozzy who the “creepy chick” on the cover was, and Ozzy feigned offense and said, “That’s me mum!”
…because, you know, you are not liquid.
Well, not entirely.
Still, it’s wise to retain one’s precious bodily fluids.
