I’d say that 5:15 from detection to follow-up sounds in character for “airport security”; except that it so often fails to even reach the detection stage.
In this case it sounds like the bad outcome was for someone with a likely fairly innocuous reason to be wandering around backstage; but it’s pure theater to call something a ‘restricted area’ if you can spend over 5 hours there without anyone doing anything about it.
