Woman in sailor suit tells Infowars reporter that Infowars people have worms in their brain

The “What about socialist Venezuela?” gotcha ignores the rather obvious fact of American interference in Venezuelan politics. Like the US sponsored a coup against Chavez in 2002 that failed after 100s of thousands poured into the streets to demand his release. Or that the US has used a variety of open and covert means to topple the government, like funding the opposition. And since the price of oil fell, the US has slapped sanctions on Venezuela to make it very difficult for it access hard currency for needed imports, and generally making the economy go haywire.

For conspiracy theorists, they really should look into the CIA’s role in fucking up Latin American politics.

Pretty sure it’s a he, not a she. My gramps wore one of those at that age.

Dasha is a cis-woman, for what it’s worth.

Who is Dasha and what’s a cis-woman?

It’s not even communism that caused the hyperinflation that is causing the problems to begin with, it’s the fairly absurd method used to determine global oil prices and Venezuela backing their currency with oil. Neither of those have anything to do with communism, the only relation is Venezuela’s oil supply being derived from state-owned wells. You just shouldn’t back currency with something as variable as oil, and if you do certainly don’t leverage your state-owned oil business for private equity to pay for government business.

Someone whose gender aligns with what they were assigned at birth, “cis-gendered.”

I’m assuming Dasha is the woman in the video wearing the sailor suit, which looks like a Sailor Moon cosplay, if you ask me.

If you read the article, you’d know that Dasha is the lady in the video wearing the… whatever it is, and a cis-woman is a woman who was born female, with a vagina, and XX chromosomes.

That’s true, but the part where communism does come into play and the bad economic polices (in a nut shell) are:

  1. They put ALL their eggs into the oil basket.

  2. They nationalized other industries and set up laws that severely hindered trade even with neighbors.

If there was also a robust private economy outside of the oil industry, the effects of the oil price drop wouldn’t have been as bad.

Norway (I think) also has a nationalized oil industry, and they use it as a way to fund many of their social programs. But they also have other economies as part of their overall economy.

Edward VII was indeed a he (cis-male, in fact), and was also the clearest pic of a sailor suit I found quickly. The woman referenced in the headline of the page you just commented in is neither a he nor in a sailor suit.

I’ve never met your grandpa. I flatly deny it.

Well the hyperinflation is the problem, and that wasn’t caused by their economy that was caused by the bolivar being backed by oil and the government defaulting on $60 billion that their oil was meant to back up. With their credit shot and their oil pointless the bolivar collapsed and inflation went completely bonkers which means all trade no matter how free was impossible.

Norway, as in your example, has their krone backed by gold and they are not at risk of their credit rating being devalued.

And they have like, what…3,000, maybe 3,500 people? (only partly kidding)

At which point the capitalists start whining about “whataboutism” and try to pretend that the normal use of an appeal-to-hypocrisy argument is some sort of evil Soviet propaganda trick.

In Japan, her outfit is known as “sailor fuku” and is a common type of school uniform for girls. Also very common in anime and therefore worn by cosplayers.

Firing half the state oil company’s workforce for striking(!) and replacing the professional engineers and managers with political cronies was also not perhaps the best idea in the long run for maintaining production levels.

“But, I just want people to have health-care, honey.”

I know they had made huge numbers of hires with out actually increasing production, and their current production numbers are much lower than previously, I assume what you are talking about is partly responsible for that.

Good news, they are putting out a Crypto Coin based on their oil - which you can’t actually trade in for oil.

Funny thing about the English language: words mean what they mean because of how we use them, not because of some written definition. What that woman is wearing is a sailor suit, because that’s what most people call it. The boy in your image is also wearing a sailor suit, because, again, that was what most people called it at the time. (Presumably. We certainly call it that now.)

I mean, Edward VII wasn’t a sailor in any real sense, you know?

The incident I’m thinking of happened back in 2003, and my understanding is that PDVSA never really recovered from the brain drain. Though googling now it looks like they’re now doing a repeat after the military recently took the company over and started firing anyone critical of Maduro, and the remaining professionals are fleeing the low pay and hostile climate.
