Edward VII wanted to serve in the army but Queen Victoria forbade it.
George V, on the other hand, was a Royal Navy officer and got a tattoo on a vist to Japan.

Refer back to the post @m_a_t was responding to. It’s a picture of a child in a similar-ish outfit to what Nekrasova was wearing. That is the person who @m_a_t was saying was likely male.
She’s like a Parker Posey character brought to life
Basically only at Thanksgiving.
Oh I meant the person in the painting. I know the girl in the video is not a guy
Exactly. Thanks
Venezuelan style kleptocracy is far closer to Trump’s goals than Bernie Sanders style Socialism
Heeeyyy… they don’t HAVE Thanksgiving. I mean, what would they even have to be thankful for?
The fact that they don’t live in a shithole country like the U.S. of A?
Well, I guess they got that going for them.
He was a classy guy. Unfortunately, passed away in the late 70’s, so chance are you’d never had a chance to meet him anyway
Unfortunately, I lost the sailor suit photo but here’s him in a fisherman suit.
When spring comes and we still have a rat left.
Ooh, someone needs a lesson in politeness, Canadian style.
We don’t say things like that out loud, or if we do we always add a smile.
That includes a skirt, not jeans. She’s wearing a sailor-ish shirt (middy blouse), but ordinary jeans. SXSW isn’t really a cosplay venue, though, so I suppose you could say it’s relatively Sailor Moon-ish in the context!
One can with equal justification say that English is a mostly coherent language, rather than a collection of mutually unintelligible dialects, because spellings and meanings have been written down. (Thank you, Samuel Johnson!)
This is more a case of finer distinction in meaning not being retained by those with no reason or desire to give a damn. Like the distinction between “concrete” and “cement” which is extremely important to those who actually work with it, but often ignored by those who don’t need to know. (I once read an interview with architect Frank Gehry in which he used the “wrong” one.)
BWAAA-HAA-HAA! I can’t believe anyone could screw that up! Let me guess - you started mixing up your ‘cement’, and couldn’t figure out why it was lumpy? HA! What kind of masonary chatboard is this?
Oh, wait…I’m back on BoingBoing…
Yeah, but they do have the decidedly more badass-sounding Boxing Day.
The old “If you are a leftist you must support for the worst crimes of Communism.”
Really, her go-to should have been “Oh, you’re a rightist-- so you must support Hitler?” (It’s a tired and annoying counter-argument to a tired and annoying argument, but the InfoWars person started it.)
She could’ve used the fact that Bernie is apparently well-off to her advantage:
“See, InfoWars people? You can be socialist and wealthy at the same time! It’s not an either/or: Free healthcare does not destroy the fabric of capitalism!”
Also, the vocal fry was killing me.
That probably would work because I don’t think they’d have an immediate answer to it. What they might come back with later is that Bernie’s a hypocrite socialist, he only got those houses because he took advantage of a capitalist system, etc etc.
