Woman records her dinner date with a creepy "nice guy"

Sadly, it’s like I told the other guy in the now-closed tangent thread; people who don’t want to know because it makes them uncomfortable are part of the problem, they are inadvertently complicit.

Yeah, and to add to the great input from @anon29537550, Beau had an even longer video addressing people who reached out to him with follow-up questions:

It also highlighted where some folks get their ideas about dating, for those who are unaware of how pervasive and popular toxic masculinity tends to be in certain circles.

Notable thing to me about this video was how many of the comments he was responding to could have been read nearly verbatim from this thread. (Other than calling Beau a “beta,” which is so bizarre i have a hard timetaking them seriously.)

There are only two genders, but alpha, beta, and sigma men is a real thing, dammit!

I had to look up Sigma. Never heard of that one. TIL

The alpha and beta stuff is useful in the sense that anyone referring to it in earnest can be immediately written off as a fool.

The only thing I can glean about those terms is that a guy who refers to himself as an “alpha” generally isn’t whatever he thinks that terms means, that he should likely be avoided, and should never ever be left alone with a woman.

Even the guy who came up with the concept (to describe the behavior of wolves) has washed his hands of the whole thing, now saying that it doesn’t even apply to wolves.

The inability to be flexible and change one’s views or opinions when presented with new information is another red flag. Reminds me of those folks stuck on conservative talking points who won’t let go of the term “global warming.” :woman_shrugging:t4:

Me neither. I found this good description:

“A sigma male is, essentially, an introverted alpha male, offering misguided men a chance to place themselves at the very top of this imaginary hierarchy, without the loud, boisterous personality that an “alpha” boasts.”

It’s a good term that accurately and succinctly describes what is happening. Conservative talking points often conflate it with local warming, but given that “global” is 50% of the name I don’t think that it’s the problem there.

But it’s been twisted so that any cold snap “disproves” it. Recall the idiot congresscritter “owning” the libs by producing a snowball in winter.

Right, by ignoring half the term. There’s no combination of words they wouldn’t try that with…I mean, heck, with antifa they have basically been ignoring both parts. The global temperatures are still rising like crazy.

That was exactly the subject of today’s video!
