Brazilian government decided to tax cheap products imported by ordinary people and is surprised when the measure generates many complaints.

Some people are wondering what could have happened to President Lula, a savvy and experienced politician, who is making numerous miscommunications and seeing his image tarnished.

Mr. Haddad, Brazil’s finance minister, said he has no idea what is a Shein, the Chinese e-commerce giant that is very popular in the country. He said he knows about Amazon because he buys a book a day, every day.

This statement fell like an overdue easter egg into the lap of the opposition and made some people even angrier at the unpopular measure announced in a clumsy way by the government.

According to the Minister, the best thing for the Brazilian consumer is equality of conditions among merchants. From the comments on social networks, it seems that many people are not convinced of this.
