Dear Hillary, if they’re from the right (especially that far), it doesn’t matter if they’re women or not, they’re still horrible excuses for humans.

WW2 is just barely in living memory now… so few people left who lived through that era… And they are working so hard to rebuild fascism and so many people are just forgetting how horrific it was…

It seems that the people of Chile rejected the new constitution.

ETA

From what I read some time ago, the Chilean constitution had already undergone several specific reforms. But still it is based on the document created by the Pinochet government. The problem is that Chilean politicians proposed a plebiscite on the new constitution, but did not think about what to do if it was rejected.

Despite the rejection of the new constitution, President Gabriel Boric has committed himself to building another text that can “interpret the will of the majority of citizens”.

It has no real territory apart from a palace and offices in Rome and a fort in Malta, but is recognised as a sovereign entity with its own passports and licence plates.

It has diplomatic relations with 110 states and permanent observer status at the United Nations, allowing to act as a neutral party in relief efforts in war zones.

I’m glad I read the article, because I started with one assumption, but then learned that it’s actually a very good and necessary change, and not as sudden a decision as I thought. (The old Grand Master died 5 months ago, so of course this is the time to course-correct and move forward.)

Biden extends “Certain Authorities” under the “Trading with the Enemy Act.” Specifically, it extends the Cuban Embargo/Bloqueo. Also a “Fuck Today” because this blockade serves no useful purpose than to keep Miami Cubans happy leading into the midterms.

Fur auction controversy

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Antti Kurvinen (Cen) shared his feelings about his visit to a Saga Furs fur auction in Finland, Maaseudun Tulevaisuus reports.

“The trade is hot and money is flowing into Finland,” Kurvinen wrote.

On Twitter, Matias Pajula, chair of the opposition National Coalition Party’s youth organisation, reacted to the post, writing that Kurvinen was “first involved in the government in deciding business subsidies for unprofitable animal cruelty and then whitewashes unprofitable businesses on social media.”

Pajula also referred in his post to Kurvinen’s connection to Saga Furs, a company in which Kurvinen holds 124 shares, according to Ilta-Sanomat.

According to Kurvinen, he was surprised by the condemnation of his visit to the fur auction and support for a rural export sector from people in “a certain bubble in the capital region”.

“The ‘intellectuals’ of the world want to destroy an export industry that’s worth a couple of hundred million euros and take money and jobs away from small, poor municipalities,” Kurvinen further stated. “They are not interested in the environmental problems of their own lives.” The minister wrote that he would continue to stand up for a “smart and sustainable rural fur industry”.

“Natural fur is part of the circular economy. Utilising low-value fish from water bodies and slaughterhouse waste. No microplastics or fast fashion. Is this not ethical and ‘green’?” Kurvinen asked.

Jenni Haukio, wife of Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, added to the discussion on Wednesday by sharing a link on Twitter to a citizens’ initiative to ban fur farming. The fur industry is concentrated in parts of western Finland that are traditional Centre Party strongholds.
