“Halitosis” is a marketing ploy made up to sell Listerine as a mouthwash, rather than as a surface disinfectant, i.e, not really a thing.

this was my first thought, too. i thought, “was bolan’s breath notoriously bad, or something?” and then i read further to see how they got a sample of it and went, “…OH.”

My guess is the target demographic is the same one that has an endless fascination with bodily functions, and nuggies.
As they age up, there is an additional lesson in the limits of science… plus marketing!
