Hello! I am one of those underpaid and overworked school district IT people. Thanks for the compliment! I honestly don’t think I’m stupid. I’ve been working in IT for over 30 years, mostly in the corporate world and did pretty well, thank you very much.
We use G Suite and turned off the chat module. Students do use Docs for note passing, but we have Google Vault and archive everything. We can check their version history as well. Our student email addresses are a little more complicated than JDoe@school.com and passwords are longer than the norm. There is a balance you have to find between being secure and making the kids’ lives miserable. Actually, the faculty are more difficult to deal with than the students some times.
